Just like how there will always be 4 seasons in a year, there will always be an opportunity to devote myself to getting to know and help the people around me. From the mountains up high, to the wide broad sea, to those less than an hour away from my house, the people are the greatest gift I could have ever received. Each person had mesmerizing stories for me to listen to, had transformative activities for me to experience, had unique perspectives for me to learn from. Here’s a short recount of some of my treasured memories.
#Market – International Week of Deaf
# Social Support Center 3
NAM DINH - SUMMER
HAI HAU, NAM DINH
On a different occasion, I contributed to collecting trash from the beach in the scorching heat. The amount of litter, including masks, straws, plastic cups, and sticks, was disheartening. However, the dedication of the volunteers was unwavering. We worked tirelessly all morning, our gloves soaked with sweat as we picked up one piece of trash after another.
As I witnessed the warm hearts of the citizens towards veterans, I couldn’t help but be moved by their unwavering support and appreciation. As the national anthem played, they sang the song proudly and clearly, knowing every word of the lyrics. Not only did the citizens show their support through their voices, but they also demonstrated their dedication by showing up early to the event.
In addition to their heartfelt gestures, I also had the opportunity to witness the dedication and hard work of individuals who practiced and helped organize the commemoration. Their attention to detail and their passion for ensuring a meaningful event was truly inspiring.
BINH LIEU, QUANG NINH
I had the opportunity to be introduced to a new instrument that captivated me with its simplicity and yet ability to create a fascinating melody. This instrument had only two strings, but in the hands of a skilled musician, it produced a sound that resonated deeply within me.
The materials used to create this instrument were becoming increasingly scarce. The tree from which it was traditionally made was now found only in remote forests nestled deep within the hills. Locals had to embark on treacherous journeys, braving the rugged terrain and unpredictable weather, to collect the necessary materials. It was a testament to their dedication and love for their craft.
I also had the opportunity to lend a hand in making traditional cakes. The process was intricate and required careful attention to detail. From measuring the ingredients to kneading the dough and shaping it into delicate forms, every step was a labor of love.
I climbed over a hundred stairs, determined to reach the top and witness the breathtaking panorama of the surrounding mountains. The weather took a turn for the worse, with heavy rain pouring down and strong winds howling around me. Yet, undeterred by the challenging conditions, I continued my ascent. The rain soaked through my clothes, and the wind whipped against my face, but the view that awaited me at the summit made it all worthwhile.
